Bangladesh Premier League will kick off from February 9. Bangladesh cricket control board (BCB) has already unveiled logo and other important dates for the first edition of T20 cricket tournament, BPL (Bangladesh Premier League). Winner of the tournament might get a chance to play in Champion League T20 next year.

6 teams will fight in this 20 days long tournament. 33 match will be played and final match will take place at 29th February. Matches will held in Dhaka and Chittagong.

We might see some of the big names of world cricket in this tournament. 5 foreign players can take part in best XI for each team.


The Franchise auction will take place on 5th Jan either in Cox's bazar or in Dhaka, followed by Player action on 15th January. Each team will be allowed to spend minimum of US $2 million and up to maximum US $5 million. 

Game On Sports has brought all rights of the BPL for six years. Ten Sport will broadcast all matches worldwide and New Bangladeshi TV Channel, Channel 9 has got the domestic broadcasting rights.

BPL logo unveiled

The logo of the inaugural Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 (BPL) was unveiled on Thursday. The tournament's six icon players -- Tamim Iqbal (Chittagong), Mohammad Ashraful (Dhaka), Alok Kapali (Sylhet), Shahriar Nafees (Barisal), Mushfiqur Rahim (Rajshahi) and Shakib Al Hasan (Khulna) -- also attended the spectacular launch programme at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in the capital. 

The first edition of the BPL will kick off on Feb 9, 2012 with the final to be played on Feb 29. 

The 20-day tournament will feature six teams that will play each other twice each in a round-robin format. Of the 33 matches, 25 will be staged at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur and the remainder at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. 

Teams will be allowed to field five foreign players in their playing elevens, as opposed to four in the Indian Premier League. 

The icon players will be paid five percent more than the amount received by the highest paid player of each franchise. 

The franchise auction will take place on Jan 5, either in Dhaka or the seaside town of Cox's Bazar. 

Companies wishing to bid for a franchise will submit their offers on the same day, and bids will be opened in front of all those present, with the franchises going to the highest bidder. 

The player auction is scheduled to take place 10 days later. Each team will have to spend a minimum of $2 million and can spend up to a maximum of $5 million. 

বিপিএলের লোগো উন্মোচন

জমকালো অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্য দিয়ে ঘরোয়া টি-টোয়েন্টি প্রতিযোগিতা বাংলাদেশ প্রিমিয়ার লিগের (বিপিএল) লোগো উন্মোচন করেছে আয়োজক কমিটি। বৃহস্পতিবার রাতে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানটিতে উপস্থিত ছিলেন প্রতিযোগিতার ৬টি দলের ৬ আইকন ক্রিকেটার, ৬ জন গুণী শিল্পী এবং দেশের ৬ শীর্ষ ব্যক্তিত্ব। 

আইকন খেলোয়াড়দের অনুষ্ঠানস্থল হোটেল র‌্যাডিসনে নিয়ে আসতে নেয়া হয় অভিনব উদ্যোগ। ঢাকা প্রিমিয়ার লিগে খেলা থাকায় রাজশাহীর মুশফিকুর রহিম ফতুল্ল¬ার খান সাহেব ওসমান আলী স্টেডিয়ামে এবং সিলেটের অলক কাপালী ও বরিশালের শাহরিয়ার নাফীস বিকেএসপিতে ছিলেন। 

তাদেরকে প্রথমে হেলিকপ্টারে করে নিয়ে আসা হয় মিরপুর শের-ই-বাংলা জাতীয় ক্রিকেট স্টেডিয়ামে। সেখান থেকে অনুষ্ঠানস্থলে উপস্থিত হন তারা। তিন জনই বিডিনিউজি টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমকে জানান, এমন দারুণ অভিজ্ঞতায় তারা রোমাঞ্চিত। 

বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেটের গৌরবময় ইতিহাসের ভিডিও চিত্র প্রদর্শনের মধ্য দিয়ে অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হয়। এরপর বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাস উপস্থাপনের পর্ব চলে প্রায় ২০ মিনিট। ‘আমরা করবো জয়’ গানের মূর্চ্ছনা সঙ্গে নিয়ে একে-একে মঞ্চে ওঠেন তামিম ইকবাল, নাফীস, মোহাম্মদ আশরাফুল, সাকিব আল হাসান, মুশফিক আর অলক। 

এর পর প্রখ্যাত অভিনেতা আফজাল হোসেনের উপস্থাপনায় শুরু হয় অনুষ্ঠানের মূল পর্ব। উপস্থাপক একে-একে মঞ্চে আমন্ত্রণ জানান ৬ শিল্পী হাসেম খান, রফিকুন্নবী, কাইয়ুম চৌধুরী, মনিরুল ইসলাম, কনক চাঁপা ও শিশির ভট্টাচার্য্যকে। তাদের একটি করে ছবি আঁকার জন্য অনুরোধ জানান উপস্থাপক। তাদের সঙ্গে ছবি আঁকেন ক্রিকেটাররাও। 

এই পর্ব শেষ হওয়ার পর মঞ্চে ওঠেন যুব ও ক্রীড়া প্রতিমন্ত্রী আহাদ আলী সরকার, বিসিবি সভাপতি আ হ ম মুস্তফা কামাল, যুব ও ক্রীড়া বিষয়ক সংসদীয় স্থায়ী কমিটির সভাপতি জাহিদ আহসান রাসেল, টুর্নামেন্ট কমিটির সভাপতি গাজী আশরাফ হোসেন, টুর্নামেন্টের টিভি স্বত্ব পাওয়া চ্যানেল নাইনের পরিচালক এনায়েতুর রহমান বাপ্পী, গেম অনের পরিচালক অঞ্জন গাঙ্গুলী। 

৬ গুণী শিল্পী ছবি আঁকার পর তারাই বিপিএলের লোগো উন্মোচন করেন। বিপিএলের প্রথম আসরের উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠান হবে ৯ ফেব্র“য়ারি। খেলা শুরু হবে তার পর দিন থেকে। চলবে ২৯ ফেব্র“য়ারি পর্যন্ত।

বিপিএল-চমক - নিউজঃ প্রথম আলো

আজ শুরু হচ্ছে ঢাকা প্রিমিয়ার ক্রিকেট লিগ। কিন্তু চমক দেখাচ্ছে বিপিএল! রীতিমতো হেলিকপ্টার-চমক। সন্ধ্যায় রাজধানীর র‌্যাডিসন হোটেলে বিপিএলের লোগো উন্মোচন অনুষ্ঠানে থাকার কথা তারকা ক্রিকেটারদেরও। কিন্তু প্রিমিয়ার লিগে অলক কাপালি ও শাহরিয়ার নাফীসের খেলা পড়েছে বিকেএসপিতে। শেখ জামালের হয়ে মুশফিকুর রহিম খেলবেন ফতুল্লায়। খেলা শেষে যানজট পেরিয়ে তাঁদের পক্ষে মাঠ থেকে র‌্যাডিসনে পৌঁছানো কঠিন। এই সুযোগেই প্রথম চমকটা দেখানোর সুযোগ পেয়ে গেল বিপিএল কর্তৃপক্ষ। মুশফিক, শাহরিয়ার ও অলককে মাঠ থেকে তুলে নেওয়া হবে হেলিকপ্টারে। উড়ে গিয়ে তাঁরা নামবেন বনানীর আর্মি স্টেডিয়ামে। সেখান থেকে গিয়ে যোগ দেবেন বিপিএলের অনুষ্ঠানে।

বিপিএলের ছয় আইকন খেলোয়াড় চূড়ান্ত

বাংলাদেশের ঘরোয়া টি-টোয়েন্টি আসর বাংলাদেশ প্রিমিয়ার লিগের (বিপিএল) আইকন খেলোয়াড় চূড়ান্ত করেছে বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের (বিসিবি) বিপিএল আয়োজক কমিটি।

বিপিএলের প্রথম আসরে অংশ নেবে ছয়টি দল। দলগুলো হবে ছয় বিভাগীয় শহর ঢাকা, চট্টগ্রাম, রাজশাহী, খুলনা, বরিশাল ও সিলেটের নামে।

আইকন খেলোয়াড়রা হলেন, তামিম ইকবাল (চট্টগ্রাম), মোহাম্মদ আশরাফুল (ঢাকা), অলক কাপালী (সিলেট), বরিশাল (শাহরিয়ার নাফীস), মুশফিকুর রহিম (রাজশাহী) ও সাকিব আল হাসান (খুলনা)।
